“Global Justice” Applauds U.S. House Vote on Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act of 2023

“Washington DC – The American organization “Global Justice” warmly welcomes the outcome of the U.S. House vote on the Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act of 2023, as introduced by Representative Mr. Joe Wilson. We extend our sincere appreciation to the many American lawmakers who have demonstrated admirable ethics and courage by confronting the normalization process with the Assad regime, which has perpetrated grave crimes against humanity against the Syrian people. Additionally, our organization wishes to express gratitude to our esteemed partners in the SETF for their invaluable advocacy efforts since the inception of this legislation, contributing significantly to its advancement at every stage, much akin to their previous contributions to the ‘Caesar Act’ and the ‘Captagon Act’.”

Global Justice asserts that the values upon which the United States was founded contradict the continued rule of the dictator Bashar al-Assad in Syria, as well as any Arab or regional openness to him, Not to mention the complete normalization of diplomatic and economic relations, which we have witnessed recently, by some countries.

Regarding the “Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act of 2023” Dr Haytham Albizem, President of Global Justice, stated that “the great work done by Syrians, particularly SETF, supported by honorable American lawmakers, is an effort that will undoubtedly bear fruit, affirming that true partnerships in political and humanitarian work are the only ones that ensure positive results,” expressing gratitude and appreciation to Representative Joe Wilson and his colleagues, French Hill, Brendan Boyle, alongside Michael McCaul, Carlos Gimenez, and Amata Radiyagun, among others, from both the Republican and Democratic parties who made this project a reality impacting public opinion and the political reality surrounding the Syrian issue. The Vice President of Global Justice and its Projects Manager, Maissa Kabbani, stated, “Such a law will put an end to the indulgence of states that saw their interests aligned with those of Assad, who left nothing of Syria except prisons, graves, Captagon factories, and Iranian and Russian weapon stores.” She praised the tremendous efforts made to bring this law to light, adding, “The work on the Anti-Assad Normalization Law took more than three years of strenuous effort. After that, we followed it step by step, collecting all documents related to it, drafts, and opinions circulated during its preparation. We monitored all the steps facilitated by SETF and the honorable representatives to reach the moment of voting in the House. We look forward to what is happening now in Congress in preparation for voting on the law as soon as possible.”

Global Justice continues to support serious work that gives true meaning to advocacy and the impact of political pressure, Until we achieve a just and comprehensive resolution to the Syrian issue, in reverence to the bloodshed and suffering of the martyrs, detainees, and the sacrifices of millions of innocent individuals.
