WASHINGTON, DC – Global Justice, an international human rights organization, strongly condemns the brutal and senseless murder of pregnant teacher Noura Al-Ahmad and her eight-year-old daughter, Rama. The tragic incident occurred on January 16, in the Al-Mishallab neighborhood of Raqqa.
According to multiple reports, Noura, who was eight months pregnant, was stabbed to death at least 15 times, and her daughter was strangled to death. It is being alleged that the perpetrators of the crime have connections to the Democratic Union Party (PYD); a Kurdish political party in Northern Syria that acts as the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK). This area of Syria is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Global Justice calls for immediate action to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. This kind of violence against women and children is unacceptable and must be stopped. Those responsible must be held accountable for their actions and to ensure that justice is served for Noura and her daughter.
